TENDER HEARTS SUPPORT PACKAGE
For centuries, artists of all kinds have turned to their supporters for help in the financing of their art. As I have over these many years, I look to you, my fans, my benefactors, to help me bring, once again, yet another musical project to fruition. Your generous purchase of this package will make it possible for me to record, manufacture, distribute, promote, and tour this next musical project, a double CD, Pray Tell: Songs of the Soul, will be released in March 2013.
These songs have arisen from necessity, and are, by their nature, Songs of the Soul. I feel they could be viewed as spells, in their way, or food, or medicine - a balm, perhaps, as is the nature and power of music. My great hope is that they are ready to do their work in this world in which we find ourselves.
The songs need your help to become a reality, to get polished until they shine, and then gain wings and fly. It is my hope that you will love them and want to give them into the safe keeping of those you love.
This package includes:
1. Limited Edition Pre-release of Volume 1 - twelve songs, newly recorded and only available as part of a Songs of the Soul Sponsorship Package - all original and nearly all new songs - autographed and gift-wrapped, if you choose, and sent the same day ordered. The twelve I've chosen, for pre-release are:
Miracle - Driving down a street in Seattle, this song's chorus drifted to the surface. Every day that dawns is a new miracle waiting to happen.
Sanctuary - Home is the place we all long to come to, a safe-hold, a sanctified refuge that will keep us.
Between - This song simply says that much of life is lived in the region between here and there, the rock and the hard place, the four walls, the spaces between.
Jai Yen Yen - In Thailand, this phrase means keep a cool, cool heart, a way of being in the world.
Sleeping Tigers - Written in Costa Rica, this song brings me peace in the simplest of ways.
Grateful - Counting our blessings with a sense of quiet joy is no small thing. We pray for our own welfare, for the well-being of this world that it may surround and protect all the children.
Light and the Eye - In order to see, we need abiding light, and in order for our hearts to align, I believe we need the beauty, the power of music.
A Way to Go (the 25th Stone) - We need two wings to fly, we need the opposite to find the center. In the heart of everything lies the Mystery, and even though we do not know, we take one step at a time, trusting it’s the way to go.
They Never Laid a Hand on You - Many children grow up never knowing the hands of kindness and love, saying that everything is all right.
Hope-feathered - Written in a threaded style, this continues Emily Dickenson’s words that became my mantra: “Hope is the thing with feathers…”
Shine - Based on a Teddy Roosevelt quote, this song echoes my mother’s adage: “All you can do is the best you can.” Shine and grow right where you are.
Carry the One - Remember in math class when they would tell you to “carry the one”? It occurred to me that we need to carry the mindfulness of One every where we go.
