Springing Up All Over
Howdy everybody! Hope your springtime is springing up all over in the most delicious way. I love traveling during these times as I get to see Spring come in over and over again, especially in the purple gloriousness of lilacs. My heart just lifts when I bend my head to smell them, and most usually, I have to steal a few just to have nearby. I smelled a rose today whose smell was so dense, so deep, it nearly took my head off! Each season brings such gifts as well as the assurance that things change and remain the same. What a blessing!
These Changer shows have been killer! The band gets tighter all the while, and the love therein deeper and wild. It matches the music in the best of ways. With each show, we climb another rung on a ladder heading skyward. We have just a few more before we take a break for the summer months. This weekend, we'll play the Birchmere, one of my all-time favorite clubs, in Alexandria,Virginia, and this will be the last East Coast gig for awhile, so make sure you do not miss this show. People tell us this is one of the best shows they've ever seen. I can tell you, for me, it is surely one of the best shows I've ever done. Many friends are coming and there will be special guests as well. I am trying to include other guest artists on each and every show -- some familiar to most of you, and some whom you may not know at all. I've had good wishes sent my way by phone and email from Catie Curtis, and Melissa Ferrick. Catie said that she wouldn't be out there on the Road if not for me and the opening of some doors by the Changer...that felt so good to me. It feels as though just now I am receiving some reflection of some long ago effort, and because of my personal journey in these last years, I am ready to receive it. And does it ever feel good!!!
Next weekend, we'll perform beneath the stars, next to the stars in Los Angeles, at the John Anson Ford Theatre. This show lands on Sunday, on Memorial Day. Let us come together and memorialize some of our own history as well as the history of our nation. It's a beautiful, tea-cup of an amphitheatre, and we will serve up some beautiful music for you to drink in. I've played this venue before and always had a wonderful time there, and the audience does as well. There is always something special about playing beneath the evening skies, the breezes warm and inviting, and the music familiar and sound. Please come and join us as we bring you the Changer and the Changed.
Also, tickets just went on sale for the Changer show in Kansas City, MO. I'll be in residence there for that week, teaching a songwriting class before the show on Saturday. Because I've been so all-consumed with these Changer shows, teaching has become a bit rare these days. Perhaps you'd enjoy coming to KC, MO for the week with me. If you need some help figuring out how to make this happen...how to get there, where to stay, etc....email Judy and she will help set you up. It's lots of fun and hard work...just like life itself! We can learn to write songs together and then be together for the Changer show.
One thing more...it's been a pleasure and a great joy to get to know some of the new performers as I've beckoned them into the embrace of the Changer Show. Ellis, a wonderful singer/songwriter from Minneapolis, joined us on the Minneapolis show, playing flute on "Dream Child" as well as performing one of her songs at the top. She was so great to work with, and please, do yourself a favor and go see her when she performs near you! You will love her and you will love her music!
Take care out there! See you soon...Cris
